Sunburry, England: self, 1868. ---. Leatherbound album, 63 unnumbered leaves, ca 18 x 24 cm, each leaf ruled recto with a 4 x 4 grid for mounting and identifying up to 16 paper seals, each seal typically about 0.75-1" square. Over 700 seals total, each finely printed, in various colors, and carefully trimmed, with armorial, heraldic, entwined initials, animals, military regiments, ships, cities, earls, marquesses, dukes, lords, etc., etc as subject. Some identified with emendations, a few loose and now laid in. The album leaves are lightly damp rippled, with scattered water staining to the leaves and affixed seals. The final 20 leaves or so are increasingly rippled and damp stained. Verso of the last leaf and facing FEP are covered with penciled math notations and algebraic calculations. Full leather binding, gilt initials R. P. H. impressed on cover, marbled endpapers, "Papeterie Mandar/Paris" label front pastedown. Binding, hinges, etc. all sound. Overall very good condition.
