From the collection formed by Sir Melville MacNaghten, Assistant Commissioner of C.I.D., Scotland Yard and his daughter Lady Aberconway.—Accompanied by "The Window in Heaven" the Christmas card/poem by Douglas Ainslie, printed in 100 copies for Private Circulation, in original printed wrappers, printed on pale blue paper. The poem bears the notation "Westminster Gazette" and "From the Sanscrit." / (96827). Item #16454

Douglas Ainslie (1865-1948), born Ainslie Grant Duff, was a Scottish poet, translator, critic and diplomat. He was born in Paris, France, educated at Eton , Bailliol and Exeter Colleges, Oxford. A contributor to the Yellow Book, he was associated with Oscar Wilde, Aubrey Beardsley, Walter Pater and Marcel Proust.
