With reference to numerous earlier authors from Pliny to Werner; and to various localities. Anders Retzius (1742-1821), was an early member of the noted Swedish family of scientists and physicians. He was professor of chemistery at the Carolinian Institute at Stockholm. He published papers on acids, botany and zoology.
