The photographic archive of the Austrian writer and gay activist Erich Lifka (1924-2007).

The archive consists of approximately 2300 photographs in different formats or photographic postcards, approximately 830 negatives on film strips and glass plates and 300 assorted sheets of addresses and notations, as well as two extensive notebooks detailing the photographs and information about the models employed. Newspaper clippings, photographs of homoerotic artworks, contact sheets and a quantity of related material are included. (87227). Item #14410

This collection of mostly pornographic photographs provides an insight into one of the most prominent exponents of the Austrian gay rights movement. The archive is a highly important record of gay history and is a significant resource for further scholarship in the field. The photographs and other items are encased in archival sleeves in eleven three ring binders that fit into slipcases.
